A 42-year-old New York state woman faces a shoplifting charge after she stole a $3.86 can of Red Bull from a gas station mart downtown.

Shortly after 3 p.m. on June 23, a manager at the gas station saw the woman place something in her pocket, and then saw her concealing something in her bag on video surveillance, according to a police report.

The manager confronted the woman, who then offered to pay for the energy drink, the report said.

Police arrived and charged the woman, of Verplank, N.Y., at the scene with sixth-degree larceny.

She was released after promising to appear July 6 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

  1. The real story may be that the “gas mart” actually charges $3.86
for a can of Red Bull. About the same price as they charge for a gallon of regular gas give or take .30 or so.
