Houston Pianist Returns for Benefit Concert at First Presbyterian Church

On Sunday, April 26 at 11:30 AM, the Grand Prize Winner of the 2011 Brevard Music Festival Concerto Competition, pianist Joseph Stern Kingma, returns to First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan to perform a “Coffee Concert” of virtuoso music for piano by Frederick Chopin and W.A. Mozart. All proceeds will benefit the Outreach Ministries of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Kingma has been praised for his “dazzling technique” and “uniquely personal” approach to music in concert appearances throughout the United States.…

The First Presbyterian Church Choir, under the direction of Arthur Sjogren, will present a Christmas concert on Sunday, December 20th at 5pm. The choir will be accompanied by a full Baroque orchestra. The two featured works are both Magnificats by the German composer Dietrich Buxtehude and the Bohemian composer Jan Dismas Zelenka. Buxtehude is a middle Baroque composer who was the teacher of J.S.Bach. Zelenka is a late Baroque composer, originally from Prague, who was a contemporary of J.S.Bach. In…
