With international trade and commerce representing a major factor in the global economy, The New Canaan Men’s Club will hear about the role commercial maritime operations play in supporting global trade in a presentation by Anthony Whitworth, founder of Sea Trade Holdings, at its Friday meeting.
His talk, The World of Commercial Maritime Transport, will describe the three types of large commercial vessels, the supply and demand factors affecting volatility and de-carbonization issues, looking at industry initiatives to deal with them.
The meeting, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, will begin at 10 a.m. Whitworth’s remarks are expected to begin around 10:40 a.m.
Whitworth has been involved in international maritime transportation since 1975. Joining the Navios Corp. in Greenwich in 1982, he worked in various roles in chartering and marketing positions, rising to executive vice president. In 1999, he took over as chief executive officer, after leading a management buyout of the company.
