New Canaan School Superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi will update the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday on the school system’s activities during the past year and describe the programs and plans to maintain the system’s standing at the top of state rankings.
According to Niche, a national school rating service, New Canaan schools ranked at the top in the state, both for its high school, and for its elementary and middle school programs. The district’s educational programs score at the top in a variety of categories and it’s also listed as one of the best places to teach.
The Men’s Club meeting at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will begin at 10 a.m. with Dr. Luizzi’s remarks scheduled for 10:40 a.m.
Dr. Luizzi is an annual guest of the club as its members recognize the importance the town places on education. He was named school superintendent in 2014, three years after being named principal of the high school. Overall, his career in education spans more than 28 years.
Under his leadership in recent years, the school system has begun a program called The Portrait of the Graduate, aimed at embedding life skills and transferable competencies into the student experience, aligning with the increasingly dynamic changes taking place in society and workplace. The objective of the district-wide initiative is to prepare students to be thoughtful, skillful and adaptable citizens preparing them for college, careers and beyond.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information about joining, email ncmens@ncmens.info.
