Police on Aug. 7 arrested a 60-year-old Westport man and charged him with driving under the influence after a two-car crash.
At about 11:42 p.m. on Aug. 6, a Thursday, officers responded to a crash at East Avenue and Route 123, according to a police report.
There, police discovered that the man ran a red light at Silvermine Road and ended up striking a car that was traveling on Route 123, the report said.
Officers smelled alcohol on his breath and conducted field sobriety tests, it said.
The man was arrested on the misdemeanor charge and brought to police headquarters, it said. There, he provided two breath tests, which established his blood-alcohol level at .2018 and .1908, about two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
He additionally was cited for failure to obey a traffic control signal.
Police released the man on $700 bond and scheduled him to appear Aug. 21 in state Superior Court.
