Police arrested two 21-year-old Stamford men on minor drug charges after finding pot and smoking gear in their car during a traffic stop.
At about 4:40 p.m. on April 9, an officer pulled over a 1988 Honda Accord whose rear plate could not be read because of a tinted cover, according to a police report.
After pulling the car over, the officer approached and detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, the report said.
The occupants of the car were asked to step out after the driver told the officer that he’d smoked pot earlier in the day but had no pot in it, the report said. Searching it, police found a joint, baggie with pot, plastic container with pot, metal grinder and pill vial with no label and 15 pills inside, police said.
The driver said the pot, joint and grinder were his. He was charged wit possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana, second offense, possession of a controlled substance and operating under suspension.
An occupant in the backseat said he had a plastic container with marijuana in it, and he was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana.
The driver was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear April 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police arrested a 36-year-old Queens, N.Y. man and a 30-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y. man at 9:52 p.m. on April 7 after they tried to buy gift cards at Walgreens with stolen credit cards.
Police were alerted to the scam after employees noticed that the men tried to use several credit cards that were declined before one finally went through.
Police found two small bags of crack on the Queens man when they stopped him, and charged him with possession of marcotics,
The Queens man was charged with possession, using a vehicle without the owner’s permission, credit card theft, illegal use of credit card, receiving goods or services obtained illegally and identity theft. The Brooklyn man was charged with credit card theft, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card and conspiracy to commit ID theft.

Police arrested a 24-year-old Queens, N.Y. man by warrant at 7 a.m. on April 7 and charged him with unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card, conspiracy to commit unlawful completion or reproduction of a credit card and illegal use of a credit card.
He’s accused of using stolen credit cards to purchase Walgreens gift cards in September.

A 49-year-old New Canaan man was arrested at 5:49 p.m. on April 6 and charged with second-degree failure to appear. He didn’t show up in court March 17 following his arrested in October for driving under the influence. He was released on $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear April 16 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Police are investigating what appears to be a home burglary on Stoneleigh Road.
Alerted to the residence by an alarm system at about 1:02 p.m. on April 10, an officer looking round back of the house saw a rear glass door pane had been shattered where an intruder could reach in to open the door from the outside.
Investigators found jewelry boxes on the floor of the master bedroom and assorted items on the floor, with drawers and cabinets left open as if they’d been rummaged through.
