Police want New Canaanites to know that there have been numerous vehicle break-in around town and that at this time of year it is important to take precautions. It is important to lock your vehicle and not leave anything of value in it, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, public information officer for NCPD.

Police received a report of larceny from a motor vehicle parked at a Turtle Back Road home on Friday afternoon at 3:46 p.m.
The complainant, a 54-year-old female, told police that some time between 3:30 p.m. on June 4 and 5 a.m. the following morning, a wallet containing a credit card, debit card, driver’s license and $50 cash had been stolen from her car. The car had been left unlocked.
One card has already been used at a Best Buy, before both of the cards were cancelled, police said.

At 7:50 p.m. on Friday, a 54-year-old Stamford woman told police that the grill had been stolen from her 2005 Hyundai while it was parked at Waveny Care Center. The car was parked from 4:30 p.m. to about 8 p.m. on Friday. When the woman came outside the Care Center, she immediately noticed the front grill of her vehicle missing. The grill has an estimated value of $20.

Police received a report of larceny from a motor vehicle on Sunrise Avenue on Saturday morning at 7:34 a.m. The complainant, a 54-year-old female resident of the street, told police that she had her vehicle broken into between some time the night before.
The woman reported that a 4:15 a.m. on Friday she woke up to a white vehicle parked near her street with its headlights on. When she turned the outside lights on the vehicle sped off. A few minutes later she reported hearing a car alarm go off up the street, but didn’t call police until morning.
The next morning, when the complainant went into her vehicle, a 2012 Jeep Liberty, she noticed that $4 of change was missing from her center console. There was no forced entry into vehicle and the vehicle was unlocked.

A larceny from a motor vehicle parked in an Oenoke Ridge Road driveway was reported to police 12:02 p.m. Sunday. The complainant, a 38-year-old woman on Oenoke, told police that a wallet had been stolen from the vehicle. The last time the complainant remembered having her wallet was on Saturday evening at about midnight, according to a police report. The woman checked her bank account on Sunday morning and found that her card had been used at a Target Department Store in Newington.
Police are investigating.
