New Canaan Library Holds Food Drive to Support Three Local Agencies
Thursday, May, 21, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
FreeNew Canaan Library is proud to partner with Filling in the Blanks, Person-to Person and The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County in their efforts to address the increased demand for food resulting from the Coronavirus pandemic. Though food insecurity is always a vital issue, it is especially important to ensure families have access to nutritional food during this difficult time.
The no-contact, drive through food collection will take place on Thursday, May 21, from 2 – 5 PM on the Library grounds. Those who would like to donate are asked to enter the parking lot through the Maple Street entrance, drive up to the designated area, and pop their trunks. Library volunteers will take the donations out of the trunk. Food will be delivered the same day, but non-perishable food items are most in demand, including:
• Cereal & Instant Oatmeal
• Pasta & Pasta Sauce
• Canned Fruits & Vegetables
• Juices (Bottles & Boxes)
• Shelf Stable Milk
• Peanut Butter & Jelly
• Soups & Broth (dry or canned)
• Macaroni & Cheese
• Dried Beans (1 lb. bag)
• Fruit Cups & Puddings
• Rice – White or Brown (1 lb Bag)
• Canned Protein (Tuna, Chicken, Salmon, Ham)
On behalf of Filling in the Blanks, Person-to Person and The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, and the families they serve, New Canaan Library thanks in advance those who donate.
