Police last week arrested a 23-year-old New Canaan man by warrant following a harassment complaint.
It came on Sept. 20 and triggered an investigation by officers in the department, according to a police report.
The investigation resulted in an arrest warrant on a second-degree harassment charge.
It isn’t clear what happened, when or how the two parties are related. Police withheld details, classifying the incident as a domestic matter.
Under state statute, second-degree harassment is a misdemeanor offense and it occurs when:
By telephone, he addresses another in or uses indecent or obscene language;
or with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person, he communicates with a person by telegraph or mail, by electronically transmitting a facsimile through connection with a telephone network, by computer network, as defined in section 53a-250, or by any other form of written communication, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm;
or with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person, he makes a telephone call, whether or not a conversation ensues, in a manner likely to cause annoyance or alarm.
The arrested man, a Main Street resident, turned himself in to police at 10:18 a.m. on Oct. 25, the report said.
He was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 26 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
