A local civic organization whose mission is “serving the children of the world” announced this week that it’s opening its annual season for funding requests from nonprofit organization.
The Kiwanis Club of New Canaan will be able to allocate up to $2,000 per applicant and will take applications through March 31.
“Those interested should submit a letter with the agency name, contact information, mission statement, detailed description of program, proposed use for funds and amount requested,” Kiwanis said in a press release. “Explanations of how your mission fits within the Kiwanis mission.”
Last year, Kiwanians gave a total of $9,620 to 24 local organizations. Its major fundraisers this year include the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner & Social, scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 at St. Aloysius School. Tickets are now on sale at nurenu, Walter Stewart’s Market, New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, Baskin-Robbins and First County Bank.
Beneficiaries last year included the Thorpe Family Residence, which helps homeless women and children at a homeless shelter in the Bronx—a cause championed by Ann Wronski, a New Canaanite and member of the Kiwanis Club (who also organizes the club’s Meals-on-Wheels support), as well as LiveGirl, New Canaan Land Trust, STAR Inc. and Ram Council.
