Police on Friday arrested a 30-year-old Stamford man and charged him with evading responsibility.
At about 11:12 p.m. on June 12 (a Saturday), officers were dispatched to the area of Old Stamford Road at Exit 36 of the Merritt Parkway, on a report of a single-car crash, police said.
There, officers found a vehicle that had crashed into a guardrail on Old Stamford Road that was unoccupied, according to a police report.
Following an investigation, police identified the driver and found that they had left the scene of the crash without reporting it, the report said.
Police obtained a warrant and the man surrendered at about 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 6, it said.
He also was charged with distracted driving and failure to drive right, police said.
The man was released on $1,000 bond and scheduled to a appear Sept. 8 in state Superior Court.
