When New Canaan Library’s beloved former Head of Children’s Services, Rose Marie Zaharek, retired last June, generous board members and staff established a dedicated fund to host children’s authors in honor of Rose Marie. New Canaan Library is excited to welcome all to this inaugural event on Thursday, May 25 at 4:15 when award-winning author and illustrator Elisha Cooper visits the Children’s Room. Along with introducing his latest book, Big Cat, Little Cat, which tells the thoughtful tale of two cats’ friendship, Cooper will delight his audience with a live demonstration of drawing, as well signing any purchased copy of the book, available at the event courtesy of Elm Street Book. Elisha will welcome questions from young readers and their families at the end of the event.

Elisha Cooper is the award-winning author of many books for young readers, including Train, Farm, Beach, 8: An Animal Alphabet, and Dance!, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. Big Cat, Little Cat is Elisha’s first book with Roaring Book Press. He lives with his family and two cats in New York City.
