Police on Friday afternoon arrested a 33-year-old Bronx, N.Y. woman by warrant in connection with the theft of nearly $3,000 from a New Canaan resident.

On Aug. 17, 2016, police received a complaint about missing checks and money from a bank account, officials said.
Through an investigation, authorities determined that the Bronx woman had worked as a healthcare worker at the victim’s residence and that on multiple occasions last year she’d used a credit card without authorization and also signed checks in the victim’s name, according to a police report.
In all, the victim lost about $2,000 in checks and $867 in credit card charges, the report said.
Ramatu Al-hassan of Alexandra Avenue was charged with fourth-degree larceny, two counts of second-degree forgery and three counts of illegal use of a credit card.
On Sept. 15, New Canaan police traveled to the Stamford Police Department to take custody of Al-hassan, who had been arrested in that city on separate charges, the report said.
She was taken to New Canaan Police headquarters. Police held Al-hassan on $5,000 bond and scheduled her to appear Sept. 27 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
