Police on Monday night arrested an 86-year-old New Canaan woman and charged her with disorderly conduct.

At about 9:06 p.m. on Sept. 18, officers were dispatched to a Bank Street residence on a report between the woman and the victim, according to a police report. Following an investigation, police brought the misdemeanor charge, the report said.

It isn’t clear what the dispute involved, whether it turned physical or whether the arrested woman is related to the victim. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when he or she, “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.

The woman was released after promising to appear Tuesday in state Superior Court.
