A new French bakery and café is planned for Burtis Avenue in New Canaan.
La Parisienne is “coming soon” to 5 Burtis Ave., according to a sign in the window of the commercial space, the former home of Green & Tonic (now on Forest Street).
It’s unclear when the business’s owners plan to open. They could not immediately be reached for comment.
La Parisienne already has a location in Larchmont, N.Y. According to its website, the bakery sells sandwiches, salads, panini, breads, pastries, full-size cakes and tarts. Items there include the Le Big Apple sandwich with Green Apple, Brie, Honey and Lettuce on a baguette ($9.50), Turkey Panini with Mustard, Turkey, Tomatoes and Pepper Jack Cheese ($10.90), Chicken Papa salad with Grilled Chicken, Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumber, Walnut, Cranberries and Parmesan Cheese ($10.80) and Fraisier cake serving six to eight people, Creme Mousseline with a ring of fresh strawberries, thin sponge cake bottom and strawberry glaze top ($40).
A different coffee shop is planned for the opposite side of the street, in the former Burtis Nails space.
La Parisienne enters a local market with multiple cafés offering fresh-baked goods, including Dolce and Patisserie Salzburg on Elm Street.
A new mixed-use development is planned for Cherry Street and Burtis Avenue with 25 residential units, located within two multi-family buildings and four townhouses.
Sounds wonderful, but where is the parking?
Same question, June DeMichele.
