Police last Saturday night arrested a 54-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
At about 7:53 p.m. on April 15, officers were dispatched to the Canaan Close condominiums on New Norwalk Road, according to a police report.
There, police conducted an investigation and found that a dispute had taken place involving the arrested man and a victim, the report said.
Following the investigation, police charged the man with the misdemeanor offenses.
It’s unclear what the dispute was about, whether the arrested man is related to the victim or what were the extent of injuries. Police declined to provide details, calling it a domestic matter.
A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon,” among other reasons.
The man was released after promising to appear Monday in state Superior Court.
