Elections are only weeks away and have consequences. More than ever, it is necessary that New Canaan be represented by a First Selectwoman who understands finance, local issues, and people in general. Amy looks republican, acts moderate, but thinks democratic – with both small and large “D’s”.
I am personally impressed with Amy. She listens carefully, asks good questions, gets it, and is interested in incorporating what she hears into her political platform. She is a person who will be a First Selectwoman without an ax to grind. I value intelligence, openness, and honesty – all, of which, Amy has in depth.
Amy has an impressive record and commitment to New Canaan. As a graduate of Cornell University with an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Amy Murphy Carroll had a 30+ year career on Wall Street in municipal finance. With this financial background, she was appointed to the Board of Finance in 2014.
In this capacity, she has been intimately involved with our annual budget process, as well as being involved with a host of related subcommittees, liaison assignments and building committees, along with service to other Town committees and activities.
We need to help her help us turn New Canaan back into an optimistic community based on democratic principles. I am proud to support Amy and hope that you will be as well.

Dear Editor:
Please allow this letter to serve as an enthusiastic endorsement of Lauren Connolly Nussbaum for New Canaan Board of Education. Lauren is a phenomenal parent of children attending two of New Canaan’s public schools, and she has been quietly serving the Town for years in numerous volunteer and leadership roles, including education.
I personally got to know Lauren a few years ago through New Canaan Softball, where she has wonderfully coached the children of many New Canaan families. In this role, I have seen Lauren effectively lead, work easily with other coaches and parents, and always show kids how to have fun.
Lauren is deeply passionate about maintaining the excellence of our schools through continued support of our remarkable teachers and administration, and ensuring a safe and caring learning environment for all students to excel academically. I urge all voters to strongly consider putting Lauren on our Board of Education– in my humble opinion, she belongs there.
