Police on Sept 20 arrested a 20-year-old Stamford man and charged him with sixth-degree larceny.

At about 7:16 a.m. on that day (a Wednesday), officers responded to 16 South Ave. on a report of a theft, according to police.

The address is the location of the Mobil station.

Under state law, sixth-degree larceny occurs when a person steals something worth $500 or less.

It isn’t clear what the arrested person is accused of shoplifting in this case, or what it’s worth. In June, a Greenwich man (also 20) was charged with stealing a wood-carved bear from the Mobil.

Police established probable cause through an investigation and brought the misdemeanor charge.

The man was released after promising to appear Sept. 29 in state Superior Court.
