Ann Socci Calitri passed away on January 21, 2024, after enduring an arduous four years with Lewy-Body dementia.
One of nine siblings, Ann was born and lived most of her life in New Canaan. Her mother and father were from Sette Frati, Italy and she carried on the tradition of an Italian household with her family. She was, in every sense of the word, a matriarch, and devoted her life to the well-being of her family.
Ann was a hairdresser early in her working career and later formed A.M. Cleaning Service with her beloved sister, Marie. Together they created a successful business that provided house cleaning services throughout Fairfield County. Once retired, Ann became a fitness fanatic. No matter the weather, you would find her every morning walking and jogging throughout the town. She was proud to cross the finish line of her first half marathon at the age of 70! Ann took up golfing as well and played in the women’s league at Sterling Farms Golf Course in Stamford. Her passion, though, was traveling and she was fortunate enough to be able to visit several different countries throughout the world. Something she was extremely grateful for.
Ann is survived by her husband, John Calitri of New Canaan; her son, Dominick D’Agostino (Daisy) of Madison, CT; her daughters, Tonina D’Agostino of Madison, CT, Paula D’Agostino of Branford, CT, and Jodi Dougherty (Bruce) of Middletown, CT; stepdaughters, Heather Stec (Darren) of Shelton, and Sarah Calitri of New Canaan. She also leaves behind two sisters and a brother: Marie DiCostanzo, Joan Legenzowski and Philip Socci, as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her.
Visitation and services will be on Saturday, January 27th from 9-11 at Hoyt’s Funeral Home, followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Running for Rescues by visiting runningforrescues.org.
