Anna Marie Paglialunga, age 97, a lifelong resident of New Canaan died Tuesday March 1, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side. Born in New Canaan, November 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Doralato DeCamillis Liberatore. Anna was the wife of the late Louis Paglialunga who died in 1979.

Mrs. Pags, as her children’s friends called her, has three big loves besides her family:  A deep devotion to Jesus, a strong familial connection to her beloved New Canaan and an unwavering fanaticism for the NY Mets who she went to see during spring training every year in Florida.

She was a member of three religious and charitable causes:  the Catholic Daughters at St. Aloysius and the Sons of Italy and St. Ann’s Club in Norwalk.

Anna is survived by four sons Peter, Robert, Leonard and his wife Liza all of New Canaan, and Dennis and his wife Marty of Fairfield.  Four daughters, Virginia Paglialunga of Norwalk, LouAnn Cogswell and her husband Dennis of Woodstock, VT, Audrey Paglialunga of Fairfield and Betty Geriak of PA.  Her Grandchildren, Laura Terry, Jason Grady, Victoria Lawten, Megan Wellemeyer, Robert Geriak, Megan Daniel and Anna Paglialunga.  She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Daniel, Joe, Nick, Anthony, Carlo, Michael and John Liberatore, and Rose Lappitalo and Theresa Luciano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan with interment to follow in St John’s Cemetery, Darien.

The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan on Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County.
