Police after midnight on July 24 arrested a 52-year-old Old Stamford Road man and charged him with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
At about 9:30 p.m. on July 23, a victim came to police headquarters to report an assault, officials said.
Through an investigation, authorities established probable cause to arrest the man on the misdemeanor charges.
He was processed at NCPD headquarters at about 12:33 a.m.
It’s unclear what happened or where, whether the arrested man is related to the victim or what were the extent of that individual’s injuries. Police declined to provide details, calling it a domestic matter.
A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon,” among other reasons.
The man was held on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear July 24 in state Superior Court.
