Team “Sunshine for Scarlett” — named for 14-year-old Scarlett MacAllister, a standout dancer at the New Canaan Dance Academy—will be walking in Sunday’s “New Canaan Great Strides” fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Supporters are asked to arrive at 9:15 a.m. to catch the morning’s activities. It will start with a special performance by Scarlett’s dance team, followed by a group photo.

The Sapienza Scholarship, offered by the New Canaan Community Foundation, awards up to $10,000 annually in need-based, renewable financial assistance to support the educational pursuits of New Canaan students. The deadline is May 10. Learn more and apply here: newcanaancf.org/apply-scholarships.

The New Canaan Playhouse has been included as a 2025 Award of Merit recipient, Preservation Connecticut announced. CT Preservation Deputy Director Christopher Wigren said in a statement: “These awards are about rejuvenated places … They remind us of how the past can contribute to a richer future.” The New Canaan Preservation Alliance praised the New Canaan architectural design team of Rose Scott Long and Carl Rothbart, of Architectural Preservation Studio, which helped lead the widely praised Playhouse renovation, calling them “veteran award-winning preservationists who have played a role in the restoration and renovation of many historic properties in New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.” The married couple, who are both affiliated with NCPA, recently received awards for their work at the New London City Hall and the restoration of Marble House in Newport.

Police at 8:42 a.m. on April 24 received a report of a bike stolen from the front yard of a Carter Street home. It’s an ongoing investigation.

New Canaan Chamber Music’s next concert, “Roll Over, 3 B’s”—featuring Schwartz Moretti (violin), Edward Arron (cello) and Andrew Armstrong (piano), the nonprofit organization’s artistic director and founder—will be held at 3 p.m. on May 15 and 7:30 p.m. on May 16 at First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan.
