Robert J. “Kam” Kamerschen, 89

Robert J. “Kam” Kamerschen, a retired executive whose ability as a change agent leader took him to the top of several Fortune 500 companies, died on November 15 after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 89 and was a resident of New Canaan, CT and Orleans, MA for many years. Kam was the Chairman and CEO of Advo, Inc., the nation’s largest direct mail services company for 10 years. Prior to that, he served as Chairman, CEO or COO of RKO/Six Flags, Marketing Corporation of America, and Chanel and Christian Dior Perfums. He was Group President at Norton Simon, Inc. where his responsibilities included Hunt Wesson Foods, Max Factor, Halston Enterprises, and United Can.  Earlier in his career, he held senior marketing executive assignments at Scott Paper Company, Dunkin’ Donuts and Revlon. Following retirement, Kam was an active private investor, and senior advisor multiple companies and people.  Kam took great pleasure in being a mentor; you knew he was a fan if you received articles notated with inspirational quotes.

Gerald Francis O’Connell, 87

Gerald (Gerry) Francis O’Connell of New Canaan, CT, Nantucket, MA and Sanibel, FL died November 27, 2025, surrounded by his incredible wife of 61 years Judith Ann (Papp) O’Connell and his loving family. 

Gerry was born on October 17, 1938, the second son of Desmond Henry Sr. and Rosemary McGough O’Connell in Plainfield, NJ. The brother of predeceased Desmond H. O’Connell, his wife Roberta O’Connell and Timothy E. O’Connell, his husband Larry Little. Father to Kevin M. O’Connell, his wife Dianna, Julia (O’Connell) Bossidy, her husband Michael, Patrick M. O’Connell, his wife Robin, Megan (O’Connell) Marciano, her husband Lance, Colleen (O’Connell) Bailey, her husband Troy and Erin (O’Connell) Hoffman, her husband Mitch. He is survived by his 21grandchildren, Michael, his wife Emma, Edward, his wife Annie, Madeleine her fiancé Justin, Josephine, Ryan, Quinitin, Courtney, Katherine, Emery, Shea, Brinley, Isabella, Christina, Nicholas, Teresa, Conor, Reagan, Brendan, Maddox, Brody and Cole as well as two great grandsons James and Graham. Gerry was loved profoundly by his family and left nearly everyone he encountered with gratitude for their time with him.

Catherine Leone Cody, 85

Catherine Leone “Cathy” Cody passed away on Oct. 30, 2025, following complications related to a recent illness. She was 85. Cathy died at The Enclave at Rye, New York. She had lived in New York City for many years.

William P. Jepsen, 84

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Bill” P. Jepsen on November 21, 2025. Born on December 12, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts, Bill was the son of the late Carlton and Marjorey (Hayes) Jepsen. He grew up in Milton, MA, attended Boston College High School, and continued his Jesuit education at The College of the Holy Cross, graduating in 1962. He later earned his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1964. It was during his time at Columbia, in the Crown Room at John Jay Hall, that Bill met the love of his life, Mary (Ripple). The two were married for 55 wonderful years, raising their family in New Canaan, CT, before retiring to Madison and North Branford, CT.

Roy Sumner Pfeil, 91

Roy Sumner Pfeil, long time resident of New Canaan, died at his home in Scarborough, Maine on August 23, 2025. Surrounded by the love of his immediate family, Roy finally succumbed to melanoma, a disease he fought valiantly for three years. In death as in life, he was decisive, kind, and steady. 

Roy was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 30, 1934, to George W. Pfeil and Ruth Thomas. He was the eldest of three sons and is survived by his brother Jeff. 

Roy wrote the below for his 65th Class Reunion at Dartmouth in 2020. We chose to quote his distinctive, humorous and gratitude filled voice, adding a few biographical details:
