New Canaan Police before dawn Tuesday responded to a report of suspicious persons on Shady Knoll Lane and Orchard Drive. One vehicle was stolen from an Old Studio Road residence and recovered on the same street, police said. The police investigation is active.

The “News” section of a little-known marketing website to which the town government funneled $60,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds has seen just five posts since October: four event listings and a Daylight Savings Time reminder. Overseen by a Darien marketing company called Noble House Media—the group that received the $60,000 allocation and describes itself as a “concierge-style firm, offering a wide variety of services to businesses of any size, in any industry”—the “Live New Canaan” website’s major advocates during ARPA hearings were Town Councilmen Rita Bettino and Cristina A. The Carriage Barn Arts Center on Thursday announced that Jessica Ruhlin has been hired as membership manager. The St. Louis native has taught with the New York City Ballet and has worked as an arts writer, choreographer and director of Bodies Never Lie dance company, the Carriage Barn said in an email blast (sign up here).

The 2022 “Martin Luther King Day Community Mosaic Project” from STAR.

Town Hall and schools will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In New Canaan, there’s the annual celebration of King’s life organized by the Interfaith Council of New Canaan, to be held at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church on South Avenue, and a community-building Mosaic Project organized by Stand Together Against Racism, set for 2 p.m. at the New Canaan YMCA.

Steve Luciano NCHS ’87

Congratulations to New Canaan High School alumnus Steve Luciano (‘87) on his upcoming induction (Jan. 20 in Stratford) into the CT Lacrosse Hall of Fame. A four-year varsity player for the Rams under fellow HOFer Howard Benedict, Luciano helped secure state championships for New Canaan in 1985, 1986 and 1987. “His exceptional performance earned him a spot on the high school All-America roster, culminating in an appearance at the CT North-South Senior All-Star game in 1987,” according to a citation. “Post high school, Steve embarked on a remarkable journey at Rutgers University, where he played four years of varsity lacrosse from 1988 to 1991 under the esteemed National Lacrosse Hall of Fame coach, Tom Hayes.” Luciano lives in Wilton with his wife and four kids, organizers say.

The New Canaan High School PFA on Monday emailed families warning of a new phishing scam where someone claims to be a co-president of the organization. The PFA recommended that members reset their account passwords.

The New Canaan Building Department on Dec. 27 issued a permit for an estimated $900,000 of work to be done at 682 South Ave., the address of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. According to the permit, the work will include “minor selective demolition, the complete repainting of the existing building interior, repainting of existing exterior metal fabrications, the reconfiguration of some of the existing Restrooms and associated finishes and accessories, the replacement of the existing Main Entry Storefront and associated glazing, new interior wood trim and architectural woodwork, new wallcoverings, new ceilings, new draperies, installation of Owner provided items, and more.”
