In an effort led by New Canaan High School ‘23 grad Jackie Siegel, Parks officials last Monday placed two benches in Waveny Park in honor of the late Art Brown, a 15-year cross-country and track coach for the Rams. In addition to Siegel and three other former NCHS cross-country runners, those in attendance included Brown’s wife, two daughters and grandchildren. One bench is engraved from the New Canaan cross-country girls, the other bears a message from Brown’s daughters.

St. Aloysius Church said in a bulletin that its parish building and renovation project is on track for a July finish, with religious education to be held there in the fall. “The Saint Aloysius Catholic Preschool will open in Fall 2026, with the likelihood of the ‘two’s’ starting in January 2026,” the bulletin said.

The bobcat pictured at left was spotted on New Year’s Day morning in a South Avenue yard near Talmadge Hill Road. The normally reclusive animals have been seen in New Canaan in greater numbers in recent years.
