New Canaan Police at 9:07 a.m. on June 19 received a report of a vehicle stolen from a South Avenue home. It was recovered in Waterbury. The theft is under investigation.

New Canaan’s 250 Celebration Parade will step off from the Lumberyard Lot on Elm Street at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and proceed along South Avenue to Saxe Middle School. Details here.

Police at 9:44 a.m. Monday received a report of a woodchuck that had fallen into a Dan’s Highway pool. The animal had to be euthanized, police said.

The Shop New Canaan Association continues its “Shop Summer Nights” program with participating downtown retailers staying open from 5 to 7 p.m. A shopping event designed to celebrate the nation’s 250th, the “Nights” will take place every Thursday throughout the summer with special themes each week. Parking is free after 5 p.m.

A house key was reported stolen overnight June 18 to 19 from an East Avenue vehicle. Police are investigating.

An interfaith service celebrating the nation’s 250th will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. A’s.

During a discussion during Tuesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting regarding the town’s payment to St. Luke’s School (and other private schools) for coverage of health and wellness services, as required by state law, First Selectman Dionna Carlson said, “I’m hearing the number of New Canaan kids at St Luke’s is down and it makes me question the numbers.”

A Pound Ridge, N.Y. woman on Monday filed a lawsuit against the town. She tripped on a Cherry Street sidewalk and fell about 18 months ago, fracturing a wrist, according to a complaint filed by Stamford-based lawyer Erik L. Reinken.
