Police last week arrested a 26-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with illegal possession of a controlled substance and illegal dispensing of a controlled substance.
At about 2:25 p.m. on March 16, officers were dispatched to Silvermine Road on a report of a vehicle that had left the scene of an incident in Norwalk, police said.
Officers identified the vehicle and conducted a stop near Fable Farm Road, according to a police report.
As the vehicle slowed, an officer saw a small bundled bag fly out of the passenger-side window, the report said.
The New Canaan man, a resident of Avalon Drive East, was the driver and sole occupant of the car, it said.
Following a search of the vehicle and investigation, police found crack cocaine, the report said.
The man was taken into custody and released on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear March 28 in state Superior Court.
