Police on Wednesday arrested a 51-year-old Norwalk man and charged him with driving under the influence.

At approximately 3:51 pm on May 22, an officer saw a vehicle traveling southbound on Park Street fail to stay in the travel lane, according to a police report. In addition, the operator of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt, the report said.

According to the report, after conducting a motor vehicle stop, the officer found signs of impairment. The man failed field sobriety tests, the report said. He was then taken into custody and brought to headquarters for processing. There, he submitted to a test to establish his blood-alcohol level and registered a .21—more than 2.5 times the legal limit.

The man posted $250 bond and police scheduled him to appear June 5 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
