Police last week arrested a 46-year-old Torrington man on drunk driving and other charges following a motor vehicle collision on Old Stamford Road near the Merritt Parkway.
At about 6:11 p.m. on Feb. 19, officers were dispatched to the area near Exit 36 on a report of a 2-car crash, according to a police report.
There, police spoke to the Torrington man, who had backed out of an Old Stamford Road driveway and collided with a vehicle that was stopped at a traffic light, the report said.
Officers detected the smell of alcohol on his breath, and the man then failed field sobriety tests, the report said.
He was charged with driving under the influence, unsafe backing, operating without a license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
The man was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 29 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
