A trial is scheduled to start next week in the eviction case on East Hills Drive, court records show.
The owner of 9 East Hills Drive, a three-bedroom unit in a duplex, had filed papers last month to evict five tenants from the home. They’d moved in the prior summer under a month-to-month lease that expired March 31, according to a complaint filed in state Superior Court April 5 on the owner’s behalf by Norwalk-based attorney Abram Heisler.
On April 18, the self-representing defendants filed a response, denying that their lease had expired due to lapse of time.
On May 10, the landlord filed a Motion for Default for Failure to Appear and Judgement for Possession. In it, by way of asserting that the tenants do not serve in the U.S. military, the landlord said two of the tenants are students.
A trial is set to commence May 31, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records.
