Police on Sunday night arrested a 38-year-old Laurel Road man and charged him with first-degree criminal mischief, a felony offense, and disorderly conduct.
At about 10:10 p.m. on Dec. 24, police were dispatched to a Norholt Drive home on a report of a dispute between two residents there, officials said.
Following an investigation, police brought the two charges against the man.
It isn’t clear whether he’s been accused of damaging property during the dispute, what prompted it, whether the victim is related to him or whether the argument turned physical. Police withheld details, classifying the incident as a domestic matter.
State law says that a person may commit first-degree criminal mischief when he or she, with intent to cause damage to tangible property of another and having no reasonable ground to believe that such person has a right to do so, such person damages tangible property of another in an amount exceeding $1,500.
Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person, among other reasons.
The man was released on $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 26 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
