FTA Charge: Police Re-Arrest New Canaan Woman Involved in Domestic Assault, 50

More

Police on Monday afternoon arrested a 50-year-old New Canaan woman by warrant and charged her with second-degree failure to appear.

She’d missed a court date the prior week following an assault in a domestic incident, according to a police report.

She and a fellow occupant of a Wascussue Court house had been arrested late on Sunday, May 16 following a complaint of a domestic dispute involving yet another person who lives at the home, according to a police report.

The woman was charged with third-degree assault of an elderly, blind, disabled or pregnant person or a person with intellectual disability, as well as disorderly conduct.

She was scheduled to appear the following morning in state Superior Court, but failed to show.

At about 2 p.m. on May 24, she turned herself in on a paperless re-arrest warrant in connection with the failure to appear on the assault charge as well as a disorderly conduct charge.
She was released on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Tuesday in state superior Court.

It’s unclear how the arrested man and woman are related to each other (they have the same last name), whether the two incidents involved the same victim, whether or how that individual is related to the arrested people, what the dispute involved, how it turned physical and what were the extent of injuries, if any. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

The man has not yet pleaded to charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records. He is scheduled to appear July 16.
