It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the passing of John Varvatos Jr, in his home in Nashville, TN on January 5, 2024.
John was born in Grand Rapids, MI on November 15, 1983 and grew up in New Canaan, CT. He graduated from New Canaan HS in 2002 and later attended the Columbia College of Art in Chicago, IL. John enjoyed living in the Midwest and he eventually resided in Detroit, Cincinnati and Chicago. He was most recently employed by NOZ Entertainment of Nashville, TN.
As an avid history enthusiast, with special interest in WWII he collected all kinds of memorabilia from the era and admired cultural icons of all sorts. John also loved film and music of many genres. He appreciated foods from many regional cuisines especially Greek dishes, Detroit’s own Vernors soda, Cincinnati chili and Chicago style dogs. John will be remembered for his quick wit and dark humor.
John was loved dearly by his family and was an exceptional friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willard and Elizabeth Arnold, of Ann Arbor, MI and George and Catherine Varvatos of Allen Park, MI. He is survived by his parents, John Varvatos Sr, of NY and mother Mary Varvatos of CT, as well as his sisters Lyndsey and Thea Varvatos of FL and NY. He leaves behind many heartbroken aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We ask that in lieu of flowers you please consider making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project or Nashville PITTIE. A celebration of John’s life will be held from 12-3, Saturday March 2, 2024 at Cliff Bell’s 2030 Park Ave Detroit, MI 48226
