More

Lawrence “Larry”  Anthony Tomaselli, born April 23, 1952 in Norwalk Connecticut was called to his eternal home on August 18, 2025 in Christiansburg, Virginia; passing suddenly but with his family by his side.

Lawrence ‘Larry’ Anthony Tomaselli

Larry was raised in New Canaan Connecticut by his parents Lawrence and Fisina Tomaselli. In his early education years he attended St. Aloysius School. He graduated in 1970 from New Canaan High School and attended the University of New Haven where he played Ice Hockey. His love for sports started as a young child playing baseball with his siblings and cousins in the back yard and lasted the test of time through to adulthood where he coached many teams and athletes.

In 1974 he joined the New Canaan Fire Department, one of the proudest accomplishments in his life; where he climbed the ladder to become Chief from 1984 to 1986. He owned his own business; Tomaselli Remodeling and Contracting where he met many clients that he loved keeping in touch with. He was a beloved Dance instructor from the time he was at Walter Schalk through to his daughter Susan’s studio; Step’N’Out Dance Studios.

Larry met his wife of 43 years, Anne Geruso Tomaselli of Darien Connecticut, in 1980. They worked together in New Canaan at Gates restaurant where Larry was a bartender and Anne was a waitress. He spent the majority of his life giving back to the community he was born, raised, and raised his family in.

In 2020, he and Anne started their long time dream of traveling and settled in Starke Florida where they made many friends who soon became family. In recent years some of his favorite things were RVing with Anne, golfing and spending time with friends and family; but most of all spending time with their five grandchildren who were the light of his life.

Lawrence is pre-deceased by his father Lawrence Francis Tomaselli. He is survived by his mother Fisina Tomaselli; his wife and soulmate Anne Tomaselli; his daughters Susan Tomaselli, Laura (Nicholas) Tomaselli and Michelle (Sean) Everett; his five grand children Marlina (Susan), Wyatt and Cullen (Laura), Liam and Eamon (Michelle); his siblings Laura (Kent) Siladi, James (Sandy) Tomaselli, Maria Tomaselli and Matt Tomaselli; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

There will be a celebration of life, the way Larry wanted it, in mid October 2025. In lieu of flowers please consider donating, in Larry’s name, to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

  9. My deepest sympathies to all of Larry’s family on his passing.
We had a great team of volunteers in NCFC#1. Larry was a leader and officer working constantly to improve technique, equipment, instruction and safety not just for the firefighters but the whole town of New Canaan. There was so much fire back before smoke alarms and so much now needless tragedy. He fought and endured it all with grace.
I remember a New Year’s Eve working fire on White Oak Shade planning out an attack with Larry and Steve at the front door. Larry was always the most aggressive. He was thinking and flexible when he ordered the attack line to back out on the second floor over the fire room due to collapsing floors. He was leader you could trust.
We still have the NCFC#1 50 year pin for you Larry. Rest easy now in that special heaven for the brave. I miss all you guys.

  10. My deepest sympathies to the entire Tomaselli family. So many great memories of interactions with Larry over the years. From fabled NCHS athlete to Walter Schalk instructor, to his work with NCFC #1, Larry gave so much to our town. Called way too soon, RIP Larry!

  12. Aww Larry. You left us too soon! We had some fun though, didn’t we? Camping at Fort Ann in New York, fireman’s musters, NCFD, dancing at the Shore & Country Club (with our honeys), tossing back too many Buds at “G’s” house in Norwalk to name just a few of the moments we spent together. Lois and I can still hear your laughter. Wishing you Fair Winds our friend and we’ll see ya on the other side when we get there, too.
    Dave and Lois Krippene
