Dear Editor,
Broadway Bound Theatre Festival (BBTF) enjoyed its first season at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny Park this August, in partnership with the Town Players of New Canaan. Founded in NYC in 2016, BBTF 2024 offered new plays written by seven new playwrights from across the country in 28 performances. Thank you to all those who attended our performances. Our audiences were attentive, engaged and very helpful in providing feedback to our playwrights. As a development festival for new and emerging playwrights, we work tirelessly with our playwrights on their scripts in a collaborative spirit, which extends to our patrons who are instrumental in this process. Our playwrights and their guests came from as far away as Washington State and nearby as Westchester County to this beautiful area, enjoyed the offerings at our local restaurants and stayed in area accomodations. We hired local actors, directors and technicians to bring their works to life in the wonderful theatre, which continues to be arguably the best kept secret in New Canaan.
And a big thanks to the New Canaanite for providing us coverage and promotion before and during our festival. We look forward to next year, and welcome all to attend these world premieres before they go on to professional stages.
