Dear Editor,
On Saturday, June 14, The Glass House hosted the 2025 Summer Party—a celebration of architecture, landscape, art, preservation, and community. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and provides critical support for the care of our 49-acre historic site, as well as our educational and interpretive programs. As has been the trend on recent Saturdays, rain made an appearance. We are incredibly grateful to the hundreds of friends and guests who brought high spirits and celebrated under the tents with fantastic food and cocktails, striking art and design installations, and unforgettable music and dance. The acclaimed dance company Pilobolus, DJ Pete Brockman, and Design Within Reach activated the site with dynamic performances, lively music, and playful lawn games. The Summer Party was an extra special occasion this year as we honored the Italian designer Gaetano Pesce, and we are thrilled to have his works on display in our recently restored Brick House and also available in our Design Store for purchase. One guest said the Summer Party was “the most thoughtful, well-organized event I’ve been to. Wonderful details from beginning to end. [I] appreciate[d] the intersection of fashion, art, architecture, design, dance and music. Simply wonderful.”
The Summer Party would not be possible without the support of the Town of New Canaan, the generosity of many local businesses, and the attendance of so many of our friends, members, patrons, and neighbors. Special thanks for logistical help and parking spaces to the Office of the Town Planner, the New Canaan Police Department, West School, the New Canaan Country School, and Camp Playland. New Canaan’s own Elm restaurant supplied the delicious picnic basket lunches – our sincere thanks to Chef Luke Venner and owners Laura and John Barker for their continued collaboration. Refreshing beverages were provided by BARVIDA, EIRA Water, Whispering Angel and Elouan, and Litchfield Distillery. Guests also enjoyed hot and cold coffees courtesy of Café Aroma Especial. The cookie bar by Drs. Orders Baking Co. added an extra sweet treat that perfectly accompanied the fine art on display through the work of UOVO Art, Fashion, Wine, and with framing by Framebridge. Beautiful home-grown flowers and potted succulents were supplied by Longfield Farm and Modern Houseplant. We are also thankful for the donations by D.S. & Durga, Govino, and LMNT. And, of course, we are very appreciative of our local media sponsors New Canaan Darien Magazine and WSHU Public Radio.
Finally, we are deeply grateful to our generous event sponsors—MAX MARA, Design Within Reach, and Land Rover Darien—whose invaluable support sustains our mission and makes our work possible. We are truly thankful to our committed community of members, patrons, artists, friends, and corporate partners whose contributions and enthusiasm both motivate and greatly enhance our efforts to preserve this global icon. I would be remiss not to acknowledge the incredible work of The Glass House staff and volunteers, who managed the Summer Party with ease and made it a joyful experience for all!
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this year’s Summer Party. We look forward to seeing you at the event again next year and onsite soon, and often.
Sincerely,
Kirsten Reoch, Executive Director of The Glass House
