The Town of New Canaan once again put its best foot forward on Thanksgiving morning. This year’s edition of the Turkey Bowl was a big success both on and off the field. Close to 4600 fans from both New Canaan and Darien were treated to the 29th version of this fall classic. The hard work of the players and coaches was obvious to see by their play on the field. What is less obvious are the support agencies that came together to make the event run smooth and safe.

On behalf of New Canaan High School Athletics, I would like to publicly thank the following agencies for their contribution to our Thanksgiving tradition.

John Howe, Todd Deklyn and all the ground crew who spent the better part of the week cleaning, grooming and transforming Dunning Stadium to accommodate the large crowd.

David Reyes and the NCHS custodial crew for providing the set up for parent groups prior to the game and then being available to handle any facility related issues that came up during the game.

New Canaan EMS who provided emergency medical resources on site.

Jason Ferraro, Jeff Deak and all the NC Police officers who were at the game providing a safe and secure environment for our fans.

Last but not least, Public Address announcer Terry Dinan who has done an amazing job following in the footsteps of the legendary Bob Vanderhayden.

The game was a win for the Rams on the field but a bigger win for the New Canaan Community.

Jay Egan, Director of Athletics
