New Canaanite is pleased to announce that Lisa Oldham is joining the small group that advises the news site’s editor, Michael Dinan.

Lisa Oldham

Known to town residents and families as the longtime New Canaan Library director who led the celebrated building project that the organization completed last year, Oldham is the newest member of the news site’s Editorial Advisory Council.

Andrew Ault, Laura Budd, Michael Chen, Rob Mallozzi, Julia Stewart and Doug Zumbach, emeritus, are sitting EAC members. Regular attendees of the New Canaanite monthly coffee—presented on the first Thursday of each month in partnership with New Canaan Library and featuring Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee—the Council advises Dinan on a wide range of matters regarding the site’s tone, voice, guidelines and business.

“I have great respect for Lisa Oldham, whose important work at New Canaan Library will benefit generations of New Canaanites,” Dinan said. “She clearly understands this community—its municipal government, its families and its residents’ interests. Equally important for this role, it became clear to me in getting to know Lisa through the early years of the New Canaanite that she understands local news—how it’s gathered, what it is, what it’s not and why it’s important. I’m thrilled that she accepted my request to join our Editorial Advisory Council.”

After 10-plus years at New Canaan Library and having completed the largest private-public partnership project in the town’s history, Oldham stepped away from libraries in December 2023 to embark on the next phase of her life which she intends to spend traveling with her husband, spending more time in Spain and their home in New Zealand as well as with their adult children in Europe. Oldham is passionate about the environment and is outspoken about environmental and climate issues. She is an avid reader and loves outdoor pursuits of all kinds. She is currently working on a research project into her ancestors who arrived in New Netherland in the early 17th Century.

Oldham will participate on the EAC remotely. Her full bio can be found in the New Canaanite’s Our Team section.
