New Canaanite: You opened two years ago in Norwalk, and recently moved to New Canaan. Why did you relocate Skin Care By Calie?

Calie Crolla: I grew up in New Canaan and always saw my business being located in town. During the shutdown due to the on-going pandemic, it allowed me to look at different opportunities to possibly relocate. Ultimately I wanted to better serve my clients, many of whom are from New Canaan, and when I found where I am located now it was a perfect spot to do that.

What has changed for your business since the COVID-19 virus, and related restrictions, took affect this year?

Like many businesses the DECD [state Department of Economic and Community Development] put in place very strict regulations to protect both myself and my clients which was an adjustment but one I was happy to make. The biggest thing was the requirement of all my clients to wear masks during treatments. Just in the last few days the DECD has lifted that requirement and clients do not need to wear masks during their treatments. However, at all other times during the visit a face mask must be worn along with other protocols that have been put in place. Other than that, most of the additional protocols didn’t change much as I’ve always taken the utmost pride in making sure my treatment room was sanitized and safe for each and every client.

How has the client experience changed at Skin Care By Calie amid the pandemic?

For the most part my treatments haven’t changed all that much. I have gone away from a more spa-like setting to provide a more clinical medical grade treatment. This is both in effect to help my clients better their skin as well as taking in account all safety protocols.

What’s your message for clients?

I want all my clients to know that I am here to provide the best skin care experience that they have grown to expect, just in a better location. Now that the requirement of wearing a mask during treatments has been lifted, I am once again offering all SkinCeuticals professional treatments for all skin types and all ages as well as a full line of home care products.
