Marcia Talcott, 83, passed away on Dec. 26.

Marcia Wright Talcott, a resident of Norwalk and a former resident of Darien, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019 in Norwalk. She was 83.

Marcia Talcott, 83, passed away on Dec. 26. Her funeral will be private.

Born on Oct. 13, 1936 in North Platte, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Amos Alexander and Juanita Patricia Wright.

Marcia received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Lake Erie College. She was a part-time secretary for the Darien Community Association for many years while raising her young children.

She went on to be a full-time executive assistant at Champion International Paper and then later for the Women’s Tennis Association, both in Stamford.

Marcia was a longtime member of the Darien United Methodist Church and the Darien Community Association.

She is survived by two daughters: Molly MacKerrow Talcott and Betsey Talcott Asher; and one son, James Parker Talcott, Jr.; and one grandson, Amos Zaki Talcott Farooqi. She is also survived by a sister, Joye Wright Hurthle. She was predeceased by her husband, James Parker Talcott; a daughter, Amy Joye Talcott; and a grandson, Aaron Zaki Talcott Farooqi.

A private internment service for family and friends will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation and Girl Scouts of America.

Lucille Wordell McCabe, mother of eight children in New Canaan, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 22, 2021 at the age of 95 at her home in New Canaan. Lucille was the daughter of Albert Louis Wordell and Hedwig “Hattie” Kist Wordell from Milwaukee Wisconsin.

Lucille is survived by her eight Children: William Robert McCabe of Minneapolis, MN; Joseph Albert McCabe of New Canaan, CT; Thomas Francis (Joyce) McCabe of Darien, CT; John Paul (Susan) McCabe of Harwich Port, MA; Mary Gertrude McCabe of Monroe, CT; Patrick Michael (Kathleen) McCabe of Farmington, CT; James Andrew McCabe of La Quinta, CA; and Daniel Edward (Lory) McCabe of Wilton,


Lucille is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Joseph McCabe to whom she was married to for 68 years before his death on January 30th 2016. Lucille has 20 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Lucille was also pre deceased by her brothers Albert, George, and her sisters Jane, and Marian. Lucille was born on January 7th, 1925 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. She graduated from St. Francis in 1941. She enjoyed the arts and reading Harlequin novels. She met her husband Bill McCabe at a church dance social and their love bloomed from there. Lucille Wordell and Bill McCabe were married on November 27th 1947 in Milwaukee at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and friend. She was an avid reader of short stories. Lucille deeply enjoyed watching classic movies like: “I Remember Mama”, “Song of Bernadette”, and “The Quiet Man”. Lucille and her husband Bill have travelled together to historic European cities such as Rome, Paris, Vienna, Budapest, and London. As an excellent cook she made countless savory holiday meals and delicious Summer picnics. Lucille was a spiritual woman and she was involved in many church events and supported many the parochial school activities. Lu and Bill observed the Pope John Paul II in Rome and then again at Yankee Stadium during his Holiness’ visit to New York. Additionally, Lu thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with her close St. Aloysius parish friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Aloysius Church on Cherry Street in New Canaan, CT at 11:00 am, January 27, 2021 with burial service to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan. A walk through visitation will be held at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT on, January 27 from 9:00am-10:30am. Visitors are asked to wear masks as they walk through, pay their respects and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building (

  1. so enjoyed the video of aunt Lu funeral
    she was so special..I was at her wedding as a 10 years old
    she lived in WHITEFISH BAY WISC. for a short time
    always loved getting together with their family
    So fun to talk with joe yesterday…you are a saint..
