7th Annual Community Addiction Awareness Vigil
Wednesday, August, 30, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
August 9, 2023 (NEW CANAAN, Conn.) –The New Canaan Parent Support Group (NCPSG) is hosting its 7th Annual Community Addiction Awareness Vigil with a focus on Family Recovery. The date is August 30th, with live music starting at 6:30pm and testimonials at 7pm. The program includes three speakers in long-term recovery, with all three tipping their hats to their parents whose support helped them during a difficult time. “It’s during a critical moment with a struggling loved one when family members shine. I saw this with my son, Evan.” said Paul Reinhardt, founder of NCPSG. Paul’s son ultimately succumbed to his opioid addiction after 15 months of recovery. The Vigil was started in tribute to Evan in 2017, and in addition to the recovery speakers, it will feature live music, resources, a memorial wall with written and photo tributes, as well as a candle-lighting ceremony led by local clergy. New Canaan Community Foundation (NCCF) will again co-host the event under the leadership of Pres. & CEO Lauren Patterson. “We believe in the Vigil’s impact and this year’s hashtag of #FamiliesEmpowerRecovery,” stated Patterson. “The 2023 Vigil comes at an important time for NCCF, as we successfully launched our Community Behavioral Health Fund in May, focused on improving access to care, and continuing to reduce stigma and support community.” For more information regarding the 7th Annual Community Addiction Awareness Vigil, go to ncparentsupportgroup.org/annualaddiction-awareness-vigil/ or email Paul Reinhardt at paul@ncparentsupportgroup.org.
