Annual Massing of the Colors

Saturday, October, 21, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The 52nd Annual Massing of the Colors for Patriotic and Hereditary Societies of New England, is sponsored this year, by the Connecticut Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The public is invited
to attend on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the United Methodist Church of New Canaan, at 2 p.m.. The Massing is held to rededicate faith in the colors of the United States and to show support of the men and women those colors represent.
The tradition began many years ago with lineage societies representing descendants of America’s early immigrants, and has expanded over the years to include all organizations dedicated to upholding
patriotic traditions. As the ceremony begins, representatives of many dozens of these societies will file into the sanctuary
with their organizations’ flag to show their love and support of God, Home and Country. A reception,
staffed by members of the Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter, will follow at 3 p.m.
The Massing of the Colors’ host and location change every year to various sites throughout our state.
This is the first time in many years that the ceremony has been held in lower Connecticut.
