Preschool Parent Education Series Empowers our Youngest Generation

New Canaan CARES is pleased to offer a series of ten preschool parent education programs designed to assist families in their parenting journeys. Topics will address the wide array of challenges that parent representatives from 12 local preschools bring to CARES on a monthly basis, ranging from bedtime battles to independence, chaos and meltdowns. The aim is to affirm parenting efforts and provide valuable tools for handling challenges with competence, confidence and a network of fellow parents.

Parent Coach, Bunny Potts, who many know as past East School Principal, will begin the series with an interactive session on Empowering Your Preschooler Tuesday, September 30th at 9:30 in the Lamb Room of the New Canaan Library. Ms Potts will draw on her years of educational experience to assist parents develop confidence and self-control in their preschoolers, while delaying the tendency for immediate gratification. Additionally, Ms Potts will identify ways to help young children feel needed using age-appropriate chores and responsibilities, while establishing important foundational skills for making choices and solving problems independently. All preschool families are welcome, as are their young children.

CARES would like to thank the Newcomers Club of New Canaan and New Canaan Community Foundation for their generous support, which has made this preschool series possible.
