HomeFront To Describe Its Mission at New Canaan Men’s Club Meeting
January 27 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
The New Canaan Men’s Club Friday will learn about HomeFront, a nonprofit that repairs and renovates houses for qualified elderly and low-income residents with the help of volunteers, enabling the residents to remain in their homes.
Around since 1988, HomeFront was initially a program under Americares. Executive Director Sean C. O’Brien, who had been with Americares, will describe HomeFront’s conversion to a standalone organization, having developed its business plan and building on long-standing relationships to continue its work helping residents needing support to remain in their homes.
The Men’s Club meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge. O’Brien’s remarks will begin around 10:40 a.m.
O’Brien has been associated with HomeFront since 1997 as project director, later marketing and communications director and executive director when it was still a program of Americares.
While locally based, HomeFront supports low-income residents throughout Fairfield, New Haven and Hartford counties. It has fielded more than 2,900 teams and completed nearly 3,000 projects, aided by financial and material contributions and thousands of volunteers.
