Legalize Equality: Presentation by Jean Sweeney

Wednesday, November, 20, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

The New Canaan Museum & Historical Society and the New Canaan Library are proud to present a six-part lecture series: Origins of Our Constitutional Rights. The first presentation will take place on November 20 at 7pm in the Library’s Lamb Room. Jean Sweeney will discuss the history of the Equal Rights Amendment, its impact, and continued efforts to see it passed. Her talk will be followed by a short documentary, Legalize Equality. A reception will follow.

Jean Sweeney is the founder and president of Rethinking Eve, an influencer for women’s rights. A New York attorney, award winning photographer, Kripalu trained yoga teacher, writer, and public speaker, Jean is passionate about getting the Equal Rights Amendment ratified. She is working with the grassroots activists for the 3 State Solution and for removing the ERA ratification deadline in Congress. A longtime resident of Fairfield County, she has been married to attorney David Maloof for 28 years. They have two grown children.

The lecture and reception are free and open to the public.
