Men’s Club speaker to describe Waveny’s expanded Alzheimer at Home program
November 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
The New Canaan Men’s Club will learn about the recently expanded Navigator Alzheimers at Home Program offered by the Waveny LifeCare Network in a presentation by Kathleen Benevento, its executive director, at its meeting Friday, November 22, in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge.
The Navigator program has been tailored to deliver a concierge-level service, entirely free to the New Canaan community, to address the evolving and unforeseen needs that arise when caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia. In expanding the program, Navigator’s eligibility now includes individuals and/or their loved ones with any dementia diagnosis.
“We are pleased to expand the program to include more families struggling with any type of dementia in New Canaan,” Benevento said on Waveny’s website when the expanded program was announced. “We are confident this change will provide more family caregivers with access to vital support services that are so greatly needed.”
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Benevento making her remarks around 10:40 a.m., after the business portion of the meeting.
The Navigator team is made up of specialists in Alzheimer’s, dementia, care options and long-term planning, providing around the clock assistance including medical support, community resources, activities, long term care planning, emotional support and many other needs.
With more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare, including pharmaceuticals, durable medical equipment, homecare and telemedicine, Benevento has an extensive background in the field. Most recently, she has been working with dementia clients and families to provide coordination of care. She recently received training to become a certified dementia professional.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information, email ncmens@ncmens.info.
