New Canaan Library Hosts Talk Drought Conditions and the Wise Use of Water, Presented by Aquarion Water

Tuesday, August, 8, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

In 2016, southwestern Connecticut experienced the fifth worst drought since 1895. The timely topic of water conservation will be explored when Aquarion Water Company presents a talk and Q & A session at New Canaan Library on Tuesday, August 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Curtis Gallery. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org
Water, our most precious resource, has been threatened by drought conditions across the country. During the recent local drought, Aquarion took steps to conserve water and to direct water supplies to the most urgent areas of need. To ensure a supply of water for human consumption and fire protection, Aquarion worked collaboratively with local and state officials to increase the water supply to the area and to enact mandatory irrigation restrictions by customers in the four communities most impacted by the drought: Darien, Greenwic, New Canaan and Stamford. This presentation will inform residents and businesses on the company’s actions taken to manage the area’s water supply. Ms. Twig Holland, Program Coordinator for Aquarian Water Company, will show a power point presentation and follow it with a Q & A session.
