Luke Parker Bowles, CEO of Cinema Lab, will speak to the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday, Feb. 28, about the recently reopened Playhouse, the challenges involved in modernizing the theater, its success to date and the trends impacting the movie industry today.
The club meets at 10 a.m. in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, with Parker Bowles expected to begin his remarks at 10:40 a.m., following the club’s business meeting.
Cinema Lab is a movie theater development and management company that envisions movie theaters as being the social and entertainment souls” of the communities it serves, as described in the firm’s website.
The theatrical experience of seeing a movie with a theater audience is the best way to share movies and fosters a sense of community and empathy, Parker Bowles says.
In its renovated location on Elm Street, the New Canaan theater features comfortable seats, state-of-the-art visual technology and sound and a pub for snacks and drinks before and after the showing.
