Police cited two teenagers, including a New Canaan girl, on minor drug charges after finding a small amount of marijuana and smoking gear in their car Friday night.
At about 8:33 p.m. on Oct. 9, an officer followed a car that had pulled down the steep driveway off of Main Street toward the New Canaan Highway Department garage, according to a police report.
There, police found two juveniles inside the car and detected signs of intoxication—bloodshot, glassy eyes—on its occupants, a 16-year-old New Canaan girl and 17-year-old Pound Ridge, N.Y. boy, the report said.
Asked whether they’d consumed drugs or alcohol, one of the occupants said they had marijuana and paraphernalia, the report said.
The New Canaan Police K-9 dog, Apollo, arrived on scene and officers discovered marijuana, as well as a grinder, glass smoking pipe and pack of rolling papers.
They also found a fake ID on the boy, saying he was from Rhode Island.
The boy was cited for third-degree forgery, possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco by a minor (he had a pack of Marlboro cigarettes), police said. The girl was cited for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police withheld their names because of their ages.
Their cases were referred to the Juvenile Matters Division of state Superior Court in Stamford.
