A woman described as white, blonde, about five feet tall, petite and in her 20s or 30s stole a dress and handbag from Vineyard Vines on Elm Street last week, police said.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. on May 7, according to a police report.

The woman entered the store, went to a dressing room and left abruptly, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said, citing the police report. Store workers were occupied by other customers. In the stall occupied by the suspected thief, they later found a different dress and the paper used to stuff a handbag, police said.

The stolen dress is a turquoise sleeveless number valued at $125, the handbag a “wicker clutch” with the brand’s trademark whale logo, in gold, worth $128, police said.
